Course Description

This course is designed for officers who have recently been assigned to a tactical team and have had no prior training in this area. Topics will include building approach and entry techniques, team movement exercises, room clearance, dynamic/covert entry, use of chemical agents, and tactical assault problems. This class is part of the required curriculum for Peace Officers Standards and Training Council S.W.A.T. Certification.

Notes

Students must furnish the following equipment:

  • Rifle with sling (min. 3 mags)
  • 300 rounds rifle ammunition
  • Handgun (min. 3 mags)
  • 300 rounds handgun ammunition
  • Shotgun with sling
  • 200 rounds "00" buckshot
  • BDU Style Uniform
  • Boots
  • Gun belt with holster (optional location for magazines)
  • Load Carrying Vest (optional location for magazines)
  • Ballistic helmet
  • Gas Mask
  • Ear Protection
  • Eye Protection
  • Gloves
  • Weapon Lights
  • Hand Held Flashlight
  • Med kit with Tourniquet, Chest Seal, QuikClot (some sort of hemostatic dressing)

Prerequisites

Participants must have three years full-time experience as a sworn law enforcement officer or be assigned to the department's tactical team.
